Um no, not well said. The Tony is the highest honor in American theatre. Many people work their whole lives to earn one and to dismiss it like it’s some kind of consolation prize is not fair or accurate. Many Hollywood actors have tried and failed to transition between stage and screen, and the fact that Viola Davis does so effortlessly is half of why she’s so brilliant. I love Meryl Streep, I really do. I just don’t think she deserved to win this year. I don’t want to repeat myself, so my further feelings on the subject can be read here and here
