Monkey Chatter of the Mind
Ahoy! I'm Becca, and these are the inane ramblings and discoveries of a twenty something South African Jewish Director/Actor/Professional Bunburyist living and studying in New York. I am decidedly ENFJ, an Ally, very liberal, and am generally tolerant of everything besides willful ignorance. Occasionally, I wax rhapsodic about olives.

God I need to see this.

I am so conflicted about who I want to win the Best Actress Oscar.  I haven’t seen every performance yet, so these feelings are based on what I have seen: Jessica Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty and Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook.  I’d say the performances are about equal, but Jennifer Lawrence’s part was infinitely better written than Jessica Chastain’s.  Maybe “better written” is the wrong phrase, but Jennifer Lawrence was given a much wider range of things to play that Jessica Chastain was.  Jessica Chastain’s character was essentially insanely determined for the entirety of the movie.  And that worked for the character and Jessica Chastain kicked ass, but considering the sheer range of emotions that Jennifer Lawrence played and had to play was kind of astounding.  So, I think Jessica Chastain will win the Oscar, mostly because she’s done an absurdly high volume of excellent work in an extremely short space of time.  But I think Jennifer Lawrence’s role and performance are probably both more deserving of the win.

And then again, I haven’t even seen Amour, The Impossible, or Beasts of the Southern Wild yet, so I may change my mind as soon as I’ve seen all of those movies.

“And most hauntingly, a twelve-year-old girl from District 11. She has dark brown skin and eyes, but other than that, she’s very like Prim in size and demeanor.”

Everything is see something with this quote I think of all the IGNORANT ASS PEOPLE who said that when they found out Rue was black her death didn’t mean as much. Did you assholes even read the book? Seriously.

I walked to his bus to introduce myself, muttering the whole way, ‘Hi, I’m Jen. Hi, I’m Jennifer. Should I go Jen or Jennifer? Should I say I’m Katniss? No, he probably already knows that.’ So I walk onto his bus and first words out of my mouth are ‘Hey Woo – is that a sex swing!?’ It was in fact a yoga swing hanging from the ceiling.
