I’ve been re-watching a lot of Seinfeld recently and a lot of things about my personality are starting to make sense when I think about just how much I idolized Elaine Benes. And, when I really think about it, it was probably only because she was the only woman on television at the time who looked like me. That, and she was openly agressive and opinionated, like me. I’ve definitely spent a lot of time pushing around skinny Jewish boys, both physically and metaphorically. I blame Elaine entirely.
Julia Louis Dreyfus is and will always be one of my all time favorite people/actors and I loved every second of Veep, but this really should have gone to Amy Poehler. We can only hope that the Emmy voters get their shit together next year.
